Frames silence as “the highest teaching” — not an absence of sound but resting prior to the rising I, already complete. Needs no seeking, philosophy, or understanding, since it knows itself directly as pure, subjective being.

Examines the phantom I as merely a self-referencing sense arising from pure being — never a solid, findable object. Looking for the I directly makes it vanish, revealing timeless, limitless being; freedom is now, not a future event.

Eternal doesn’t mean forever but what always is — the unchanging pure being at the root, the same whenever you look. Distinguishes Nirvikalpa Samadhi (world absent) from Sahaja Samadhi: pure being while the world appears.

Sal invites recognizing the deep contentment of dreamless sleep now, while awake — being “asleep in the waking state.” Resting as pure being prior to the rising I, unconcerned with passing thoughts, you notice a palpable peaceful silence at the core even as the world appears.

Sal invites resting as “be still and know that I am” — stillness not as an unmoving body or a blank mind, but as not rising as the I. The body can move, wiggle, act; you at the center stay still, and that palpable stillness becomes a pleasant invitation to abide there.

As a taste of the upcoming mini-intensive, Sal points to the still, silent background beneath every movement of body and mind. Your only business is to abide as yourself — pure being — where a palpable contentment nothing can touch is always available.

Sal invites us onto holiday to look at where we’re located. Without the rising I — the separating, dividing factor — pure being doesn’t end at the skin but permeates the trees, mountains and sky as infinitely vast being with no center.

Sal strips away every attribute of self — name, form, nationality, past and future — to ask what remains in the absence of the rising I. His answer: “true silence is the absence of the rising I,” not the absence of noise or sound.

Sal addresses whether effort is needed to be on Holiday, your own essential being. Since a Holiday is simply what you already are, no effort is required — the sense that you must try is only the rising I. It’s “just falling in love with being.”
