Points to pure knowing I as the root of every experience, where time and mind’s movement stop. Mind, being seeking and agitation, can never be satisfied with simply being; knowing yourself as being ends lack ā “whole and complete, content.”

Frames true meditation as the “posture of pure subjective aware,” letting every movement be a gentle reminder. Neti-neti inquiry is useful but can become a new identity; at some point you say yes, end the seeking, and start living freedom.

Sal: 156 B – Essential Mind and TrueĀ Intelligence
A written piece in place of a recording: distinguishes thought-filled mind from “essential mind,” which is empty, pure and synonymous with knowing/being. That, not IQ or knowledge, is the true intelligence: “I am life itself.”

Distinguishes the real from the unreal: mind, with its stories, judgments and regrets, masquerades as the real I but is “the impersonator I,” hypnotically convincing because it feels so close. Seeing the suffering it brings, the movement to be free happens by itself.

Points to the split second on waking, the first consciousness of ‘I am,’ before the mind “starts to run riot.” Suggests having a holiday right there in bed, since problems can wait, and starting the day being that, living the recognition moment to moment.

Offers a mostly wordless holiday with one inquiry: when a concern appears, what is it that has that concern? Seeing it is only the rising I, mind, “you’re out again into the sun of pure being.” Nothing more is needed than just to be.

Defines a holiday as simply knowing that I am, prior to name, form and story. Freedom isn’t gained by understanding; it is seeing your nature is already free. Knowing oneself as the source of all that moves shifts the locus of being.

Contrasts the way of negating with the way of affirming ā “the big yes,” I knowing I. Fighting thoughts only gives them more juice; simply don’t mind the mind, since ever-changing thoughts can never be the eternal I.

Shares the opening holiday from an open meeting: attending to the unchanging “I am” prior to body and mind. Knowing oneself as pure aware being, not only the changing person, is a “paradigm shift, shift of being” off the roller coaster.
